Critical thinking

Form an independent view, test assumptions, find supporting and challenging evidence, and state what would change the decision.

Creativity

Frame the problem, generate non-obvious options, combine ideas, and preserve productive struggle.

Imagination

Consider alternatives, second-order effects, counterfactuals, stakeholders, and omitted futures.

Emotional intelligence

Read people and context, recognize values and emotion, preserve an authentic voice, and communicate responsibility and uncertainty.

TEVO: The Human Advantage Cycle

1. Think first: Understand the task, purpose, audience, risks, and desired results. Apply whichever Human Levers the situation requires before engaging AI.

2. Engage AI: Use the required, existing, or newly created prompt to perform the task. Human judgment still matters in selecting inputs, framing instructions, and recognizing what AI is being asked to do.

3. Verify & Re-engage the Levers: Evaluate the output. Check important claims, evidence, assumptions, omissions, and so on. Deliberately use the Four Human Levers where needed.

4. Own the decision: Take responsibility for the final work. Revise as necessary, communicate the result appropriately, and identify what the process reveals about both the work and the human skills that need continued practice.
